Clinical Data Model: Providing the most impactful information for clinical decision support

When reviewing biomechanical information the sheer volume of content can be overwhelming to any user. In a clinical setting, this has been a hallmark problem for biomechanics. Time for review needs to be taken into consideration, which spawned the DARI Clinical Data Model (CDM).

In the CDM, DARI worked with HSS to develop this tool. Their feedback gave DARI the information to create a data reduction methodology that helps streamline the understanding of performance and quality through the objective lens of biomechanics.
Topics like movement categorization, variable groupings and definitions create a simple and impactful review. This tool takes millions of processed data points and provides clinical users with the most impactful 132 points. It is a beautiful thing.

Movement Review: Alignment Data – Single Leg Squat

A movement review is an excellent touch point to see exactly what DARI can collect and to better understand its importance in your motion health!

During the unilateral squat DARI tracks a variety of different movements. Specifically motion in different planes.

One of the most common abilities is to track the primary plane of movement of the knee, which would be flexion.

However, DARI has the ability to track not just the primary planes of movement, but also the non-primary planes of movement (or what DARI calls alignment). One of the variables of interest in alignment for single leg squat is valgus.

To go deeper, DARI has developed over 10 dynamic valgus models to be used in motion analysis. What DARI has found regarding this analysis of valgus is that what clinical providers perceive and what bioengineers calculate can be different. Finding the correct method of measurement and standardizing was key.

Notre Dame and Clemson – ACC Championship!

This weekend there is a battle for the ACC football championship. Notre Dame won the first meeting this year in a shoot out against Clemson. However, Clemson didn’t have their leader Trevor Lawrence on the field. The next match up should be an instant classic.

It shows how an excellent QB can bring a team together!

The Technology Used to Assess Josh Allen’s Throwing Mechanics

On the Pat McAfee show, Josh Allen (QB for the Bills) describes undergoing a “digital mapping” assessment of his throwing motion. This assessment lead to discoveries and ultimately throwing mechanic changes which improved both his accuracy and velocity! DARI is proud to be the technology used in this assessment.

Data collection was captured by our client BIOMETREK with the expertise of QB Coach Jordan Palmer.
